Duane Smith
Elder of Preaching, Teaching, & Vision
Bio:
Duane is a native of Sussex County, Delaware. His life was transformed by the gospel of Jesus Christ during his senior year of high school. He and his wife, Jennifer, have been married for 32 years and have two married adult daughters and two grandchildren.
He is a graduate of Clarks Summit University (formerly Baptist Bible in Clarks Summit, Pennsylvania), where he completed his studies in 1994 and 2001. Following his training, he served as an assistant pastor at his home church, Calvary Baptist Church in Georgetown, Delaware.
In 2004, Duane, Jennifer, and a small core team planted Sussex County Bible Church with a desire to establish a local church in southern Delaware firmly grounded in God’s Word, centered on the gospel of Jesus Christ, and committed to making disciples.
He loves the Lord, His Word, and His people and is deeply committed to the faithful preaching and teaching of Scripture and to equipping believers for the work of ministry. In addition to his ministry at Sussex County Bible Church, he serves on the board of Servant Leaders International, a global fellowship of local church leaders committed to strengthening Christ’s church and advancing the Great Commission.
