Duane Smith
Elder of Preaching, Teaching, & Vision
Bio:
Duane is a native of Sussex County whose life was transformed by the gospel of Jesus Christ during his senior year of high school. He has been married to his wife, Jennifer, for 31 years, and together they have two adult daughters, a son-in-law, and two grandchildren.
He is a graduate of Clarks Summit University—formerly Baptist Bible College & Seminary in Clarks Summit, Pennsylvania (’94, ’01). Following his training, he served as an assistant pastor at his home church. In 2004, Duane, Jennifer, and a small core team planted Sussex County Bible Church with the goal of establishing a congregation in southern Delaware firmly grounded in God’s Word and the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Duane loves the Lord and His people and is deeply committed to the faithful preaching and teaching of Scripture. In addition to his ministry at Sussex County Bible Church, he serves on the boards of Legacy Academy of Delaware, a classical Christian school in Sussex County that he helped found, and Servant Leaders International, a collective of local church leaders around the world committed to fulfilling the Great Commission.
