Joel Schrock

Elder of Shepherding

Bio:
Joel is a native Delawarean, born and raised in Sussex County. He grew up in a Christian home, attended a local Christian school, where he gave his life to the Lord in a middle school chapel. During his senior year of high school, he felt the desire to become more serious about his faith and living for Christ.
After marrying his high school sweetheart, Laura, in 2001, they began working with youth in their former church. This led to serving as an assistant pastor in that same church. Through the refining work of the Lord in their lives, they came to SCBC in the summer of 2022. Joel and Laura are the proud parents of four children--Jonathan, Brian, JT, and Elizabeth. You may see him on the road for his day job, doing plumbing service work for his family’s plumbing company.
Joel loves to serve the Lord through serving others. He is thankful for the ministry of SCBC because of the strength, healing, and growth it has brought in his own life.

“But whatever were gains to me I now consider loss for the sake of Christ. What is more, I consider everything a loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them garbage, that I may gain Christ and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ—the righteousness that comes from God on the basis of faith. I want to know Christ—yes, to know the power of his resurrection and participation in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, and so, somehow, attaining to the resurrection from the dead.”  -Philippians 3:7-11
